As 2015 comes to an end, I want to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who supported my campaign for the Cambridge City Council this year.
Running for public office is a real privilege, and my candidacy was made possible through the generous support and tireless efforts of many individuals. Overall, it was a positive experience, and I am grateful to everyone who helped me run in a very competitive race.
I was honored to receive endorsements from Cambridge Day, the Cambridge Residents Alliance, and the Ward 6 Progressive Democrats, and while I may have come up a few short of victory, I am nevertheless pleased, that in Cambridge’s system of proportional representation, many of my votes “transferred” to help elect progressive allies like Dennis Carlone and Jan Devereux.
My wife Kacy and I are now headed to Vermont to spend time with her family at Christmas — then we’re off to Montreal for a few days. In January, I will be teaching a law school admissions class at Northeastern, and I will also be exploring other opportunities in advocacy and politics. I hope to continue working to promote social justice and civic engagement, here in Cambridge, and beyond…
Here’s wishing you and your family all the best in 2016. I hope we continue to stay in touch in the New Year!
Very truly yours —
Mike Connolly
P.S. I posted some additional thank-yous and thoughts about the race on my Facebook page last month, available here...
